If I’d been born a *little* more on time, my name would have been Patricia. My father was thrilled with the idea of a St Patrick’s Day baby. Apparently I didn’t agree. What that means is that this isn’t just a Paddy’s Day sale, it’s a ‘Paddy’s Day Is Not My Birthday’ Sale. Or a ‘Paddy’s Day Is Almost My Birthday’ Sale, whichever you prefer. It’s also a small bit of a ‘help get the new studio up and running’ sale 🙂
So today through Wednesday March 19th, everything at dublindyeco.etsy.com is 20% off! After that the new studio won’t be done until sometime in April and I’m going to be away for a little while between now and then. So I’m going to put the shop on ‘holiday’ for about a month, until the studio is running and some new stock is ready to go.
That should include some new yarn, either a sock yarn or lace yarn, which would you prefer to see online first?
Thistle by Lili Comme Tout is a little french style pullover perfect for a little boy. And I happened to have exactly the suggested amount of Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK in a dark blue that I’d picked up at This is Knit when they discontinued it last year (I’m still a little upset about that). I also happen to have a little boy 😉
The problem with little boy knits is getting a photo on the boy when it’s done. Toddlers are objects in constant motion, and blur is hard to avoid. I have found a bit of a trick, and that’s to ask him to show me something. Usually, something on him…
‘Where’s your belly?’
But that one doesn’t show all the buttons. There’s another one on the bottom band.
‘Where’s your nose?’ (There’s the button! A bit blurrier though)
You can see it’s a bit big on him, but that’s how toddler clothes should be. I also haven’t blocked it yet, I expect the shoulders will sit better and it will get longer when that’s done. One thing that impressed me with this pattern is the transition between garter stitch and stocking stitch. By doing one extra garter ridge slightly farther out, it doesn’t have that usual roll that always cause me grief. I’m going to use this myself in the future. A great little sweater that will be cuddly and warm on him for cold spring days and well into next winter.
I managed to get out of 2013 with just one work in progress, mainly because I was home watching movies and knitting on New Years Eve instead of out partying.
Having finished a pair of socks New Years Eve, I of course ignored Autumn Whispers and cast on a new project the next day.
This is Portico, in some Merino Silk lace I test dyed a while back. It is lovely and soft and strong, and I think it might have to go into the shop soon 🙂
It’s finally December, and Christmas is definitely in the air! Santa is in the shops, twinkly lights are everywhere. I’ve even started the shopping. Started, but there’s a long way to go until it’s finished. Does someone want to raid a toy store for me?
To help you with your Christmas shopping, I’m offering free international shipping from the etsy shop in December! But of course I’m not policing who the Christmas present is for, you could get yourself a little present too you know 😉
